Root Canal

Root Canal - A “root canal” refers to the removal of the pulp (nerve and vascular tissue) from inside of the tooth in order to save a tooth and eliminate pain. This procedure is used for infected and abscessed teeth, a nerve that has died, and teeth injured or broken in an accident. Pulp tissue can become infected and/or die due to deep decay, injury, or cracks in the tooth. The treatment can usually be completed in one or two office visits. To protect the tooth from fracturing, molars and premolars will almost always require a crown or onlay after a root canal is completed.
